National Focus '23: Engaging with the Mission of Jesus

Resting with confidence in the beauty of God's mercy, grace and ongoing transformational work in our lives, we will take the next couple days to respond back to the Father in joy and with gratitude. We can be confident that we are loved, that our God is with us and that we are truly sons and daughters of the King of Kings.

The Journey Continues: Day Five and Six
1. The Invitation
Responding:  With Wonder, Worship, Renewed Recognition.

Leader: Receive us O Lord, as an offering of worship. Your joy is our delight.

Response: We are captivated by your beauty and are kindled with holy passion.  We lift our souls to you in adoration.

Leader:  We stand at the door of our heart and welcome you to go deeper in. And then we see it is you all along who invited us first to journey into yours. Oh, glorious invitation!  We accept and embrace the unfolding mystery of Christ in us, where a King invites us in.

Response:  And like moths flying into the light, our hearts respond with joyous abandon, taking flight into your flame of love.

Leader: And in that place, transformation burns within. We are infused with the fragrance of Christ and emerge to new life.  With awe and wonder, we sit at your feet, our hearts enlarged to love you more.

All: Receive us O Lord, as an offering of worship.  Your joy is our delight.

2. Anchoring Reflection

We step forward in obedience and are invited into the heavenly embrace of the Father. Like Jesus, we long for our doing to flow from our being. The mission of Jesus is rooted in love, anchored in grace. He has done no miracles, lived mostly in seclusion, at peace with obscurity. And yet, here are the powerful words of the Father, confirming His identity, affirming His affection for His Son.

"One day when the crowds were being baptized, Jesus himself was baptized. As he was praying, the heavens opened and the Holy Spirit, in bodily form, descended on him like a dove. And a voice from heaven said, "You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy." Luke 3:21-22

Ponder: Wait; Listen

How would the baptism of Jesus affect His self understanding of identity and mission?

What might the Father be whispering to us today, amidst the voices of shame and the lies of the enemy?

"Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
Deep peace of the Son of peace to you."
Fiona Macleod

3. Common Prayer

I praise You, Jesus,

Son of the living God.

The power of the Holy Spirit is with You to heal.

Blessed are Your death and resurrection;

And holy beyond all telling is the name of Jesus.

Holy Jesus, have mercy on us.

Fill us with grace and truth.

Give us power to become the children of God,

And protect us always and everywhere

By the loving power of the name of Jesus.

Note: Throughout the fast we want to encourage you to send into the VC team what you are hearing/sensing that the Spirit may be speaking to us as a family. Please send your contributions to
