Vineyard Canada National Fast 2023
Journey Update January 11th & 12th
For the next two days of our fast we will be building on the foundation of "consecration" that we leaned into on day 1&2. As the Spirit has been tenderizing our hearts, preparing us to hear his voice and calling us into a posture of surrender we now turn our ears eagerly to wait and listen and respond to His gracious re-aligning work in our hearts. The Journey continues: Day Three and Four
Revelation: Reflection and Repentance
Leader: Prepare us this day O Lord, to reflect on change.
Response: Change of mindset, change of heart and change of ways.
Leader: True repentance and true change is born in the revelation of who you are and who we are to become.
Response: Come and reveal yourself to us that we may change and become like you.
Leader: Reveal to us the divine connections and rhythms of repentance and rest, and of stillness and trust.
Response: Help us to be people of repentance and rest. Teach us to be still and to trust in you.
All: Prepare us this day, O Lord, to reflect on change2. Anchoring Focus
Something beautiful begins to happen when we surrender. Hearts are softened, ears are open, hunger returns. As Vineyard people, we believe in revelation. That along with the revelation of the unchanging Scriptures, God continues to reveal Himself to us, because He is a personal God. He speaks, we listen, we speak, He listens. Cousin John preaches the beautiful message of repentance, as does Jesus, as do the apostles, as must we. The message confronts us, conforms us, changes us.
"Then John went from place to place on both sides of the Jordan River, preaching that people should be baptized to show that they had repented of their sins and turned to God to be forgiven. Isaiah had spoken of John when he said,
"He is a voice shouting in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way for the Lord's coming!
Clear the road for him! The valleys will be filled, and the mountains and hills made level. The curves will be straightened, and the rough places made smooth. And then all people will see the salvation sent from God."
Ponder; Wait; Listen
How does the message of John the Baptist prepare us for the mission of Jesus?
In our own life, what are some of the valleys that need to be filled, the mountains that need to be leveled?
"There He walks in your past. He walks in all the dark rooms you pretend are closed, that He may bring light. He walks ahead of us. Perhaps we have no clue about what lies ahead; we know 'who' is ahead of us, so the future is not quite unknown."3. Common Prayer
Let Your tender word wear a hole in the hardness of our hearts; so as we hear Your word frequently our hearts will be opened to rightly fear God.
